The MISO alert to conserve energy has been allowed to expire. While demand is still high, the grid has stabilized at this point. If conditions change, further information will be provided.

 

Peak Energy Advisory:

Due to the extreme cold, electric grid operators have asked for everyone to conserve energy. Please unplug all unnecessary equipment that is not essential to health and safety. Be sure cell phones are fully charged in case of a power outage.

Some members may experience a short-term power outage to protect the electric grid. These outages may happen with little to no notice and will last approximately 1 – 3 hours.

Annually, Consumers Energy sponsors one member's dependent to spend a week-long, all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., in June. The student must be a high school sophomore, junior, or senior. The Youth Tour allows students the opportunity to visit historic monuments and museums, meet with U.S. Representatives and Senators, and meet other students from around the country on Rural Electric Youth Day.

Complete the application, and answer the following questions in essay form. The essays should be 300 words.

1. Describe your view of major challenges facing the rural community. What solutions do you envision? What part does the cooperative play in the solution?

2. Why do you want to be Consumers Energy's delegate for the 2026 Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.?
