CONSUMERS ENERGY RESPONDS TO COVID-19

Consumers Energy continues to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
To limit exposure of COVID-19 to our members and employees, our lobby is closed until further notice. Our employees are still reporting to work and remain available via phone and email.

To support our members who may be experiencing financial hardships as a result of COVID-19, Consumers Energy has temporarily suspended all late fees and disconnects for non-payment through May 31, 2020. The cooperative strongly encourages members who are experiencing financial hardship to call our office at 800-696-6552. We will make every effort to work with our members during this time.

A MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER
As a cooperative, Consumers Energy has Concern for Community as part of its culture. Consumers Energy is looking out for our members, employees, and communities, and our community focus compels us to help slow the progress of COVID-19.
Our staff have been working diligently to stay on top of guidance from the CDC and local and state health agencies. We are recommending all employees take precautionary health measures including using CDC recommended hand washing health, social distancing, staying home when sick, and pausing all non-essential work travel.
We know that you rely on us to provide a critical service. Consumers Energy has always maintained a strong business continuity plan to ensure you don’t have to worry about your electric service.
We will be here to keep the lights on in your homes and business as the situation evolves. We will respond to emergency calls, like downed power lines and outages with the same response time you have come to expect.
At this time our lobby is open, but to members only. Our Community Room is closed until further notice. We are monitoring this situation closely and will make changes as necessary. We continue to take payments as usual – in the office, online or via the SmartHub app, and over the phone through the Secure Payments System. During this time of social distancing, this might be an ideal time to take advantage of one of our free payment options - set up a SmartHub account or try our Secure Payments System for phone payments. Our Member Services staff can help with this if you have any issues.
