I certify that all information contained on my application and other required materials is complete and accurate to the best of my knowledge. If I am a recipient of this scholarship, I hereby authorize Consumers Energy to utilize information about and from my scholarship application, any presentations or projects, and my likeness for public relations purposes and publicity.

APPLICATION INFORMATION

SCHOLARSHIP:

• Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to applicants pursuing a post-secondary education in an electric lineworker program.

ELIGIBILITY:

• Applicants enrolling in a lineworker program or those with verification of a wait-listed status for the next open enrollment period are eligible.
• Recipients must be enrolled in a lineworker program and begin school within 12 months. In the event the lineworker program is full and the college of choice is maintaining a student waiting list, the recipient must provide proof in writing in order to hold funds for the next open enrollment period.
• This scholarship is limited to Iowa residents who are starting college in the Fall of 2026.
• Preference will be given to Consumers Energy members and dependents of members.

SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Complete the application form by typing or printing. Attach additional sheets if necessary.
• Enclose your most recent academic transcript from your high school.
• Enclose one letter of reference from a teacher, counselor, employer, or system manager.
• Include a short essay answering the following questions:
  • Why are you pursuing a career in the electric field?
  • Who, if anyone, has inspired you to pursue such a career.
• Return your completed application and supporting documentation to Consumers Energy by March 17, 2026.
• Applications received after this date will not be considered.

SELECTION:

• Selection criteria will be based on scholastic achievement, school and community involvement, work history, and references.

NOTIFICATION:

• Scholarship recipients will receive notification from Consumers Energy. Due to the volume of applications expected, only students awarded a scholarship will be notified no later than April 14, 2026.

DISBURSEMENT:

• Scholarships awarded shall be for $1,000 payable to the student and the educational institution the student will attend.

ONLY RESIDENTS OF THE STATE OF IOWA ARE ELIGIBLE.
